The Financial Horizons Conference is a free, one-day event designed to give undergraduate students the opportunity to learn from and network with accomplished professionals, UCSD alumni and leading minds in finance.

The Conference is UCSD’s premier educational and networking event for students looking to broaden their financial knowledge and employers looking to recruit fresh talent. This year, the Conference will feature two high-profile keynotes and five panels in the areas of Venture Capital/ Private Equity & Entrepreneurship, Consulting, Investment Management & Wealth Management, Investment Banking, and Executive Women. In addition, Pre-Conference (see link below) the day before the main event will help prepare students with valuable networking skills for Financial Horizons Conference by learning how to present their personality in a genuine and positive way.

Opening Keynote – Joseph Edelman

Mr. Edelman founded Perceptive Advisors, LLC in 1999. Previously, he was Senior Analyst at Aries Fund, a Paramount Capital Asset Management biotechnology hedge fund, from November 1994 through December 1998. Prior, Joe was Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Prudential Securities for four years. He started his career in the healthcare sector of the securities industry as Biotechnology Analyst at Labe, Simpson. Joe earned an M.B.A. from New York University and a B.A., magna cum laude, in psychology from the University of California San Diego.
Founded in 1999, Perceptive Advisors is a $2 billion fund that focuses on supporting the progress of the life sciences industry by identifying opportunities and directing financial resources to the most promising technologies in healthcare.

Midday Keynote – Ashvin Bachireddy

Mr. Ashvin Bachireddy is a Co-Founding Partner and General Partner at Geodesic Capital and has over 14 years of venture capital and technology experience. He was a Partner and Head of Growth Stage Investing at Andreessen Horowitz since 2010 where he led growth stage investing for Andreessen Horowitz. He began his career as an Analyst at Citigroup in their Public Finance Investment Banking Group. He received a B.S., with honors, in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego.

The firm makes later stage investments and helps its portfolio companies expand globally into key markets in Asia, starting with Japan, by identifying employees, customers and partners and developing go-to-market strategies.
